Heading Towards 200 Reading Posts PDF Print
Monday, 11 January 2010 00:00

In 2010, Cinta Baca has a goal to open 156 new Reading Posts among the society. With the addition of these new Reading Posts, Cinta Baca will have 200 Reading Posts by the end of 2010. Some preparations are conducted on January for the implementation of this project.

Cinta Baca is thankful for 45 Community Learning Centers (CLC ) that were opened in 2009. Each of the CLC is library and non formal education based. With these achievements, by the end of 2009 Cinta Baca has already had 63 CLC that consist of 4 city libraries, 15 village libraries, and 44 Reading Posts. Focusing on rural communities as main target, Cinta Baca’s Community Learning Centers are located in 7 provinces, at 22 districts/cities. To realize the commitment for 200 Reading Posts in 2010, Cinta Baca is to do some preparations and anticipation at national basis as well as at regional basis. Some of the preparations are: upgrading the human resources of the staff, strengthening the internal system, and starting some fund raising and book driving efforts. At least 1,2 billion Indonesian Rupiahs and 31 thousand books are needed. Those needs are enormous. However, the actual need of Indonesian society for books is larger than that. At least 50 thousand villages in Indonesia do not have their own libraries. The contribution of those who are burdened for this condition is highly expected.
